Stay safe and well during the cold spell

Posted on Friday, 2 March 2018 10:41 am | Category: Darlington Advice and support to help you stay safe and well in Darlington throughout this cold period

We're providing additional support to Darlington residents throughout this wintry spell to help keep older people safe and well.

Our Winter Support Services

Our Snow Patrol service offers path clearing to reach the road for trips to essential appointments and shopping, particularly as conditions become more icy. Our volunteer drivers are also on hand where necessary. If you know someone who could benefit from the Snow Patrol service, please do get in touch on 01325 362832 or e-mail details to enquiries@ageuknyd.org.uk.

For the future, if you feel you'd benefit from extra support, why not look at our Befriending service? This free service matches you with someone in your local area to visit and keep in touch, helping you feel supported.

In addition, we're temporarily expanding our Café Refresh home delivery service to provide nutritious meals in the community. We'd encourage you to contact the Café on 01325 741492.

Staying Well at Home

Cold weather can pose serious risks to as we get older, leaving us more susceptible to illness. Make sure you stay warm at home by keeping your main living area heated to 21°C, and bedroom to 18°C, wearing multiple layers and using an electric blanket overnight.
