Electric Blanket Testing Returns to Darlington

In partnership with Darlington Borough Council and County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service, Age UK North Yorkshire & Darlington will once again be offering a free electric blanket safety checking service. Electric blankets account for over 5000 fires a year and it is essential that they are reguarly checked for signs of wear or damage and checked by a qualified electrician for electrical safety. Our safety checking event will be taking place on the 17th & 18th September from 10am. Appointments must be booked in advance on 01325 362 832

Some electric blanket warning signs include:

  • Fraying fabric
  • Scorch marks
  • Exposed elements
  • Creasing or folding
  • Soiling
  • Damp patches
  • Tie tapes damaged or missing
  • Worn cable
  • Loose connections

If your blanket shows signs of wear or any of these warning signs you should have it checked or replaced as soon as possible.
